One hundred years ago, only 3 million people
in the U.S. were over the age of 65. Today, there are more than 36 million in
this age group. With the baby boomer generation reaching this age, it is
estimated that the senior citizen population will grow to over 70 million within
the next 25 years. The aging America is triggering a higher demand for health
care and social services. About 80% of seniors suffer from a chronic illness.
These types of conditions can cause years of pain and disability for seniors.
