The Scarlett Family Foundation has awarded over $1.6 million in college scholarships to 100 students for Middle Tennessee pursuing a business degree

Leadership Scholarship at Austin Peay State University

The President's Emerging Leaders Program (PELP) at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville Tennessee is honored to promote this program and also the $3000 scholarship that it provides to students who are admitted into it- - with your college-bound seniors.  PELP is a leadership program that stressed service and scholarship.  About 25 students are admitted  into this program each year.  PELP students must maintain a collegiate GPA of 3.25 and must meet other course and service requirements while at Austin Peay.  Provided they do this , PELP students receive an annual scholarship of $3000.  This scholarship is renewable over a four-year period.  The requirements to apply for the President's Emerging Leaders Program are acceptance to Austin Peay State University, a minimum ACT score of 26, and a high school GPA of at least 3.5.

Bethel University

The Hendrix Scholarship competition is right around the corner!  Bethel University is hosting its 24th Annual Hendrix Scholarship competition on February 17th through the 18th .  Current seniors that meet the 3.25 GPA and 24 ACT/1090 SAT requirements are encouraged to apply. DEFENSE COMMISSARY AGENCY

The Scholarship for Military Children program is celebrating its twelfth year of outreach to the military community.  Each year the program, supported through the military commissary system and administered my the Fisher House Foundation, awards hundreds of scholarships to qualified seniors planning to enroll in a four-year program of studies the following fall, or to college students already enrolled in a four-year program..

Program is open to sons and daughters of active duty, reserve/guard, or retired military commissary customers.  Recipient must be enrolled or planning to enroll full-time in a four-year undergraduate college or university, accredited in the U.S..  They must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 basis.

The application period for 2012 opens December 1, 2011 and applications must be returned to a commissary by close of business February 24, 2012

Requirements:

  • Available only to high school seniors.

  • Minimum GPA: 3.0

  • Minimum ACT score: 19*

  • Must be planning to attend an accredited junior college, college or university.

Senior Scholarship Program

Ten graduating high school seniors (from CEMC five county service area) will be awarded $1000 academic scholarships.  Each scholarship is to be used toward tuition, text books, and/or required class materials after the winner has enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited Tennessee College, university, or trade school of his/her choice.  Scholarship awards are payable to the institution up proof of enrollment.

Participation Requirements

  1. Student must be a graduating high school senior whose parents r guardian is a member of and receives electric service from CEMC at their primary place of residence.

  2. Applicants shall be enrolled or planning to enroll as a full time student at an accredited Tennessee college, university (Murray State & Western KY included) or trade school of their choice by Fall 2011.

  3. Eligible students must  receive two favorably written references, one from a teacher or school official and another from a community leader, when  submitting completed applications.

  4. An essay with a minimum of 300 words must be submitted with application to be judged on subject content, composition, grammar, and neatness.

  5. Student must have attained a minimum 3.0 CUMULATIVE GPA for scholarship eligibility.

  6. Children of CEMC employee, directors, attorneys, or of TECA and TVA employees are not eligible.

Delta Kappa Chapter Men of Principle scholarship

Delta Dappa Chapter of Beta Tehta Pi social fraternity is offering to any graduating male seniors attending the University of Tennessee at Knoxville for the Fall 2012 semester.  It is a single one time, one thousand (1000) dollar scholarship for tuition or books.  I strongly encourage anyone who qualifies to apply as our scholarship has been overlooked in years past and has had few applicants.  The recipient of this award will be based on high school grade point average, standardized test scores, application is filled out and returned the more strongly the application will be considered.  There are also summer events to reward men of excellent scholarship that we will contact for those who get their applications in early.  There is an online version of the application found at http://betavols.org/mpsonline.php .  For those students who elect to use the paper application found in this letter please make sure that they mail it to this address: 1913 Lake Avenue Knoxville, TN 37916 .

Hampton Scholarship Foundation

In May of 2012. the Hampton Scholarship Foundation will be awarding approximately four college scholarships.  The scholarship awards are $750.00 per semester for a maximum of eight semesters.  To be eligible, a student must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a high school senior.

  2. Be a resident of Tennessee

  3. Have financial need.

  4. Plan to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school on a full-time basis.

American Society of Military Comptrollers

The Fort Campbell ASMC Chapter offers a Scholarship in the amount of $1000, to deserving high school seniors pursuing a degree directly related to financial/resource management/business.

Applicant must be entering a field of study directly related to financial/resource management (business, administration, economics, public administration, computer science, operations research related to financial management, accounting, business and finance.

Applicants and all related forms must be received/post marked no later than March 4, 2011 to be considered by the Fort Campbell Chapter selection panel.

The Stewart County Tea Party Scholarship Fund

The Stewart County Tea Party has established a $500.00 Scholarship Fund to be awarded to the winner of our essay contest.  The purpose of this contest is to promote appreciation for and awareness of the importance of the U.S. Constitution in our country whole providing assistance to local students.  The theme for the essay is "Why the Constitution is still relevant".  Money from the Scholarship fund will be paid directly to the college or university where the winning student is verified as being enrolled.  No money will be paid directly to contestants.

WHO CAN ENTER - Any college bound Stewart County High School Junior or Senior with a minimum GPA of  2.5. 

HOW TO ENTER - Submit application and a typed double spaced 750-1,000 word essays on above thesis, to the Stewart County Tea Party, PO Box 591 Dover, TN 37058.  All essays must be received by the end of March.  Applications must be signed by parent or guardian for all students under 18.

JUDGING CRITERIA - In addition to a written essay, contestants will be required to do a 5-7 minute oral presentation of their essay.  Date, Time and location TBD.

Cogency is worth 35 points:  Essay should rely on facts and reason to support the thesis.

Content is worth 35 points: Essay must be historically accurate and grammatically correct.

Delivery is worth 30 points: Speak in a clear and credible manner.

Community Foundation of Tennessee

The Heloise Werthan Kuhn Scholarship Fund-Eligible applicants are pregnant or parenting teens, living in the State of Tennessee, who are enrolled in or planning to enroll in post secondary education at an accredited college, university, junior college, technical school, or job-training program.  The Teddy Wilburn Scholarship Fund-This scholarship is designed to benefit students at Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt University.

Tennessee Marine Family (TMF)  Fallen Heros

College Scholarship Fund

  • The Tennessee Fallen Heroes Collage Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 to award scholarships to qualified individuals in honor and recognition of our Tennessee Fallen Heroes and their service and contribution to our nation. 

Number of Scholarships Available:

  • Scholarships will be awarded in $1,000 increments.  At least one scholarship will be awarded per year.  Additional scholarships will be awarded based on available funds.  No more than $1,000 will go to any recipient in any given year.  Scholarships are for one year only.  Scholarship Recipients may re-apply but are limited to two scholarship awards.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • All applicants must be graduation seniors from an accredited public, private, parochial or home school, honorably discharged form military service, or currently enrolled in a college or trade school with good academic standing. 

  • All applicants must live in the state of Tennessee.

  • All applicants must be attending or plan to attend an accredited Tennessee University or Trade school as a full time student.

  • Tennessee Marine Family Board Members or members of their immediate family are not eligible.

Award Criteria

  • Academic Achievement including grades, rank in class, standardized test scores and achievement test scores.

  • Community/Extracurricular activities that show patriotism Leadership positions held.

  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation--One letter should be from a teacher, employer or a member of the community familiar with you and your goals and the other two (2) letters from people of your choosing, but cannot be from family members and/or relatives.

  • 500 to 1000 word student essay.  Topic:  "What my Country means to me".

  • Letter of acceptance from the educational institution you plan to attend (if available) or Letter of Good Standing if already attending an institution for high education.

Eddie Bryan Scholarship

High school graduates age 17-21 entering his or her first year of study in a state accredited college or university with the objective of obtaining a minimum of a two-year degree. 

Member of, or birth-child, legally adopted child or step children, whose parent or grandparent is a member in good standing, of a local union in good standing with the Tennessee AFL-CIO labor Council; or a child who has lived in the household of the above described union member for more than 3 years.

Application and a typed or hand written, five hundred-word essay on "What Labor Unions Mean to My Family" will determine the winner of the $5000.00 scholarship.  References must be properly recorded on the essay.

Sigma Phi Epsilon

We are offering $1,500 in scholarships to incoming male students to The University of Tennessee at Martin who embody the principles of a BALANCED MAN.  Our aim is to recognize and reward men who strive to achieve balance, all around excellence, as we believe it to be essential in achieving a satisfying college experience in life.

2012 UT Martin Communications Department Freshman Scholarship

$1,000 each

The department of Communications at the University of Tennessee at Martin is offering $1,000 scholarships for 3 incoming freshman who will be Communications Major at UT Martin Fall 2012 and remain a major at least one school year.

 The scholarships may be applied toward tuition, books, supplies, cafeteria, or dormitory fees at UT Martin.

Deadline for receiving the applications is 5 pm Tuesday, April 10.  Scholarship winners will be notified, and the scholarships will be presented at the Communications Awards Banquet set for Tuesday, April 24, in the Duncan Ballroom, Boling University Center, 11:30 - 1:30 pm.

Sigma Phi Epsilon at Tennessee Tech. is offering scholarship to a couple of incoming male students; the scholarships range from $250-$500.  The value of the scholarship fluctuates depending on the number of scholarships given.  Sigma Phi Epsilon embodies the belief that a man should be a scholar. a gentleman, and an athlete. Our selection of the finalists will be based on the application, interviews (either at home or when the student registers at Tech), and through recruitment events offered by the fraternity.
